ZILLAH — The Zillah Leopards battled in two duel-wrestling competitions last Thursday night and were victorious over both of their opponents, 50-28 against the Connell Eagles and 48-36 in a match against the Riverview Panthers.
One of the highlights of Thursday night’s action was the 152-pound weight-class competition.
Zillah’s 2008 Washington Class 1A State Wrestling Champion Chris Castillo beat Connell wrestler Jacob Ray, 13-0, in this match.
“It was a tough match. I know I wasn’t in shape and it was kind of hard. I got frustrated because he is tough. He’s really hard to pin. I didn’t pin him, I just beat him on points,” Castillo said. “He’s real flexible so he’s hard to pin—flexible and strong.”
Cle Elum was Zillah’s team-partner in Thursday night’s duel match up and also wrestled Connell and Riverview.
