Just about anywhere you look in the central Yakima Valley this weekend, you’ll find something fun and interesting going on.
Granger will host its 12th annual Dino-N-A-Day event June 6, at Hisey Park, from 9 a.m. to noon.
This year’s creation will be an Apatosaurus, more commonly known as a Brontosaurus. Granger’s recreation will be about half the size of the real-life version, which stood 30 feet tall and 75 feet long.
Gloves will be provided for anyone who would like to help apply cement to the wire-frame structure of the dino.

In Toppenish, a special two-day Mural-In-A-Day will begin June 5 and go through June 6, marking the 20th anniversary of the event.
This year, the mural will be painted on the south side of the new Toppenish Visitor Center, at 504 S. Elm St.
Susan Treneer, executive director of the Mural Society and the Chamber of Commerce, said the mural will be “transportation related.”
The extra day of the event will be put to good use, with a variety of special events and activities.
June 5, lead artist Roger Cooke will begin preparation of the paints and “cartooning” the mural concept on the visitor center wall, sometime after 6 p.m.
A beer garden will be set up in Post Office Park during the afternoon and evening.
On Saturday, June 6, about a dozen artists will join Cooke in an effort to complete the painting before dinner time, Treneer said.
In the meantime Toppenish will host a Mural-In-A-Day treasure hunt. Everyone who finds all the murals-in-a-day and gets their “passport” stamped will be entered in a drawing for a great prize courtesy of a local Toppenish merchant.
Also of interest on the same weekend will be the Treaty Days parade June 5, at the Yakama Nation Cultural Center at 10 a.m., and the Annual Treaty Days All-Indian Rodeo will be going on in the neighboring town of White Swan.
Pahto Public Passage will add an extra bus for those who would rather take the bus to the Treaty Days Parade.
The bus will leave the Toppenish Visitor Center area at 8:15 a.m. Return trips will be made at 9:05 a.m. and 11:55 a.m.
Also on June 5, the Tribal Jam 3 will be held at Yakama Nation Legends Casino, featuring performances by Tracy Bone and JC Campbell, Shane Yellowbird, Star Nayea, the Indian Soulmen, and comedian Charlie Hill.
The event will be hosted by actor Adam Beach. Admission is $10, and the show will begin at 6 p.m.
The Iron Angels, a Toppenish car club, will host its first annual car show June 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Pioneer Park.
The show is open to any pre-1974 vehicles, and first, second, and third place trophies will be given in a variety of classes.
Trophies will also be given for People’s Choice, biggest wheels, best paint and graphics, best pickup, best antique car, and other categories.
The entry fee for the show is $10 for pre-registered cars and $15 the day of the show.
Pre-registration forms are available at the Toppenish Les Schwab location, or by contacting Epi at 865-4856, Dan at 865-2280, or Bill at 949-1418.
Visitors may also enjoy a tour of the Northern Pacific Railway Museum and the American Hop Museum, which is the only one in the U.S.
