Isaiah Garcia came all the way from Texas to open his new restaurant, Chencho’s Grill, at 13 E. Toppenish Avenue.
Garcia said the restaurant opened its doors June 8, with a Tex-Mex menu, and specializing in fajitas.
He said the name for the eatery came from his childhood nickname.
His parents are in the restaurant business in Texas, and his brother, Paul, also operates a restaurant in Grandview.
“All my family is in the restaurant business,” said Garcia. “We grew up in it.”
He said his parents visited Toppenish for the opening of Chencho’s, and the food there is all family recipes.
“We’ve got great food,” said Garcia. “People love it, and we’ve got great prices.”
The restaurant also offers catering, he said.
Restaurant hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The establishment is closed on Sunday.
