GRANGER 45,
VASHON 28
Granger started out slow against a significantly taller Vashon Island team, but was finally able to put their game in gear as they eventually dominated them 48-28 in the SunDome Shootout Tuesday, Dec. 29 in Yakima. Vashon had two players at 6-0 and one other at 6-5. The Spartans were led by sophomore Fantasia Reyes with 14 points and Janae Klarich with 12. Granger’s defense dominated as they held Vashon to single digit scoring in the first three quarters.
CASHMERE 56,
WHITE SWAN 44
White Swan was unable to shake off the long holiday layoff and fell to Cashmere 56-44 Tuesday, Dec. 29 at the SunDome Shootout in Yakima. Only one White Swan Cougar was able to manage double-digit scoring as sophomore Evelyn Hawk put in 13 points. The Cougars were hurt by scoring only 3 points in the third quarter while Cashmere scored 18.
NEWPORT 51,
ZILLAH 43
Zillah was unable to handle Newport at the SunDome Shootout Tuesday, Dec. 29 and dropped a 51-43 decision to the Newport Grizzlies. Only Alisi Uasike who scored 14 points for the Leopards and Whitney Winters who scored 12 were able to keep the game within reach, but a low scoring third quarter (5 points) hurt Zillah.
Wednesday, Dec. 30 Results
GRANGER 55,
COLFAX 34
Ashley Reddout led the way for the unbeaten Spartans (6-0) as they were able to overcome perennial power Colfax by 21 points 55-34 at the SunDome Shootout Wednesday, Dec. 30. Reddout scored 16 points. Colfax won the State 2B tournament last year after moving down from Class 1A. Granger came out roaring as they led Colfax 26-7 in the first quarter. Besides Reddout, Janae Klarich added 14 points for the Spartans.
LAKESIDE 36,
ZILLAH 20
Zillah was ice cold the entire night and were beaten by Lakeside 36-20 at the SunDome Shootout Wednesday, Dec. 30. The Leopards managed single digit scoring in all of their quarters as they fell to the Lakeside Eagles. Alisi Uasike scored 7 points in the losing cause.
WHITE SWAN 63,
CONNELL 48
The White Swan girls closed out this year’s SunDome Shootout Wednesday, Dec. 30 with a win against Connell 63-48. Leading the way for the Cougars were Danika Pimms with 14 points and Josephine Wallahee with 10. White Swan will resume non-league play Jan. 5, 2010 when they travel to Sunnyside Christian.
CONNELL 45, ZILLAH 42
Zillah traveled to Connell on Saturday, Jan. 2 and were narrowly defeated by the Eagles 45-42. The Leopards were outscored in two quarters 31-16 which led to their downfall. Again, it was Alisi Uasike that led the way for Zillah with 16 points and 9 rebounds while Abbie Ziegler contributed 9 points.
