Omar Gomez (103) won Wapato’s lone individual title at the Ray Westberg Invitational tournament on Saturday, Jan. 16 in Ellensburg. Gomez defeated Diblert Villa of Othello 12-6 in the championship match.
Riverside won the team title with 184 1/2 points, Selah was second at 180 with Othello placing third, 178 ½. Wapato finished 12th with 61 points.
Wapato wrestlers Eduardo Torres (140) and Efrain Zaragoza (189) placed third.

Quincy 46, Wapato 19
Torres scored a major decision over Gabe Herrera 14-3 to led the Wolves in match at Quincy.
Earning decisions for the Wolves were Omar Gomez (103), Luis Ayala (112), Eduardo Torres (140) and Efrain Zaragoza (189). Scoring on a forfeit was Raul Hinojosa (145).
Wapato (1-5) travels to Ellensburg (2-3) on Tuesday, Jan. 19 and hosts Toppenish (5-1) on Thursday, Jan. 21.

Toppenish 57, Prosser 21
Toppenish defeated Prosser 57-21 in dual action on Thursday, Jan. 14 at the Wildcats gym.
Scoring pins for Toppenish were Aaron Arredondo (125), Juan Delgado (135), Cemon Gomez (150), and Raul Peck (189). 
Picking up decisions were Armando Hernandez (112) and Rafael Osorio (140).
Toppenish scored on forfeits by Carlos Hernandez (103), George Pech (145), Carlos Delgado (215) and Luis Rodriguez (285).
Toppenish will be at Selah at on Tuesday, Jan. 19, will host Wapato on Thursday, Jan. 21 and will be at the Clearwater Classic on Saturday, Jan. 23.

SCAC wrestling
A big wrestling showdown on Tuesday night will break the battle of the unbeatens in the SCAC West wrestling standings. Zillah, Granger and Naches Valley are all undefeated.
Zillah (3-0) will travel to Granger (2-0) on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Granger then travels to unbeaten Naches Valley on Thursday, Jan. 21.

Zillah 60, Mabton 13
Zillah beat Mabton 60-13 in dual competition on Thursday, Jan. 14 at Zillah. Chris Castillo (14-0) remained undefeated while teammate Nathaniel Deardorff  raised his season record to 20-1 after both pinned their opponents.
Scoring pins for Zillah were Skylor Davis (130), Rodney Treece (152), Chris Castillo (160), Kyle Klueve (171), Nathaniel Deardorff (215).
Picking up decisions were J.C. Arrellano (135), and Kane Koerner (189).

Zillah will be at Highland on Thursday, Jan. 21 in non-league action against East Valley, Ike, Sunnyside and Prosser.

Granger traveled to Highland to pick up is second league win on Thursday, Jan. 14. Leading the Spartans were Carlos
Carlos Deleon (130) and  Pete Almaguer (285) who both scored pins.
