Zillah High School honored more than 40 students during the school’s annual ZHS Good Citizens assembly.
The event is part of the state legislature’s Good Citizenship and Temperance Day program. According to Zillah School Superintendent Kevin McKay, Zillah High School follows the state RCW by honoring students who exemplify good citizenship in their classrooms, activities, program and community.
“Each year at this time, Zillah High School honors students who exemplify good citizenship in their classroom, activities, program and the community,” said Mike Torres, Zillah High School principal. “ZHS solicits nominations from teachers, coaches, advisors, parents, community member and even other ZHS students. Nominations are reviewed and students meeting the criteria are then recognized with a certificate presented at a school assembly honoring good citizenship.”
The 42 students who received the 2010 Zillah High School Temperance and Good Citizenship award were as follows:
Nathan Barajas, Carrie Benson, Chloe Blythe, Cameron Bounds, Veronica Cardenas, Marissa Cuevas, Blake Dasso, Allison Funk, Zach Green, Renee Heilman, Tyler Hilsabeck, Caralee Hyatt, Jessica Kennedy, Sagrario Leon, Beth Martinen, Jace McKay, Lauren Messmore, Caitlin Myers, John Myers, Jessica Ochoa, Megan Pena, Ty Purdy, Andrea Ramirez, Rochelle Rash, Andrea Rhode, Briana Rhode, Kiersten Ritchie, April Rohrbach, Bobby Salinas, Araceli Sanchez, Trevor Schcll, Taylor Sealock, Tyler Seamon, Christina Slack, Tina Slack, Cierah Stach, Riley Swallow, Kayla Whipple, Whitney Winters, Katie Wysling, Daniel Zack, and Abby Ziegler
“The students selected have set a great example in behavior and citizenship for the other students as well as helping develop a positive climate and atmosphere in all facets of ZHS,” Torres said. “I am truly grateful for all of their efforts and they are very much deserving of this award.”
