Cassie Trego was named 2010 Miss Zillah during the annual Miss Zillah pageant on Thursday, May 6.
Trego wowed the standing-room only audience at Zillah Intermediate School while singing and performing “Footprints in the Sand” during the creative and performing arts portion of the program.
The local high school junior was also selected by her three fellow contestants as Miss Congeniality.
Tierra Winckler was named first princess. Winkler was the top seller of the event’s Lions Club breakfast tickets. She performed a skit based on the musical, “Wicked,” for her talent. Second princess was Haley Quantrell, whose talent was a moving patriotic tribute to her brother, Cody a US Army soldier serving in the Gulf War. Marissa Cuevas was selected as third princess of the 2010 royalty court. Cuevas performed a humor skit, American’s Best Dancer, a take-off spoof based on the popular television show, “America’s Got Talent.”
The pageant on Thursday was a final farewell for 2009 Miss Zillah Courtney Bounds and her court. During her farewell speech, Bounds told the audience she has always dreamed of being Miss Zillah.
“It’s been my passion,” she said. “It has been an honor to be Miss Zillah. Thank you all for making my dream come true.”
