Luis Alcala, recent Toppenish High graduate, was again honored by being named the state Class 2A co-player of the year in soccer.
Alcala shared this honor with Matt Sanchez of state champion Bellingham.
This selection was based upon a statewide panel of sports writers who voted on the all-state teams for baseball, fastpitch and boys soccer.
Alcala led the Wildcat team to the state semifinals which they lost to Cheney 2-0. They then played for third and fourth places and were beat by Sehome in a shootout 1-0, thereby placing fourth in state.
Alcala was also selected as the co-MVP of the CWAC league where he was a first-team pick.
Also honored from the Toppenish Wildcat team was Abraham Martinez, who was a state second-team selection as a defender.
