Fiestas Patrias celebration cancelled

TOPPENISH — The Toppenish Chamber of Commerce announced last week that the annual Fiestas Patrias celebration scheduled for this coming Sept. 13 and 14 has been cancelled.
Chamber executive director Susan Treneer said that the cancellation was caused by a miscommunication about the requirements for the use of the Toppenish Rodeo Grounds, where the event was to have been held this year.
She said those requirements have changed only recently.
The situation was further complicated by the fact that Treneer had only recently taken over the executive director position, she said.
The Toppenish Fiestas Patrias celebration will resume next year, Treneer said.
