I grew up in a small town about forty miles north of Salt Lake City, UT, went to local school, graduated third in my class, and have now just completed my college degree in Psychology and Business Administration from Weber State University. Over the course of the past five years I have created an environmental club which has won numerous awards and recognitions while I was president for the past three years, became the “Outstanding Graduate” of my degree program, named “Man of the Year,” “Wildcat Achievement Award,” and nominated for “Volunteer Service” through the annual university awards ceremony. I have had numerous leadership opportunities within and outside of the university setting. I was elected Legislative Vice President, Traditional Senator, and a Supreme Court justice. I am also a member of the Ogden Nature Center Board and the Sustainable Ogden Committee. I have a great deal of experience working in a writing setting. For the past four years I have worked as a writing tutor at my university. I have worked with my tri-weekly university newspaper, The Signpost, for the past three years. I also have represented the university literary magazine for ethe past two years to the university’s fee recommendation committee. I would greatly appreciate the chance to write for your publication because it seems as though it focuses on local issues affecting real people. I would love to get to know and serve the people in the communities our publication reaches out to.
