    CLASS REUNIONS

    WAPATO CLASS OF 1958 Alumni/alumnae are asked to contact Sylvia Van Cleave at 509-877-3891, or Tom Cerna at 509-985-5808, in preparation for a special celebration planned during the Wapato Centennial. The WHS Class of 1958 was the first to graduate from the “new” high school building. Members of the class are asked to ride on a Wapato Labor Day Parade float, dressed casual in the blue & gold school colors. If you know of anyone missing from the Class of 1958, call Bertha Garza at 877-9906.

    TOPPENISH —In addition to sponsoring the largest free outdoor music festival of the summer in Toppenish, EMBARQ Communications will also collect clothing during the event for the Lower Valley Crisis Center.


    TOPPENISH - The weekend beginning Aug. 15 will offer visitors and local residents the opportunity for lots of fun from one end of Railroad Park to the other.

    TRLA Lifetime Membership meeting set

    The Toppenish Livestock and Rodeo Association Annual Lifetime Membership meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 12, at the Toppenish Fraternal Order of the Eagles, S. Division St.

    Discussions will include a recap of the past year, plans for the future, election of officers, and an open forum.

    All lifetime members are encouraged to attend this meeting.


    Fish to graduate


    Michael Patricia Fish, daughter of John and Linda Fish of Toppenish, will graduate cum laude from Seattle University June 15, with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration.

    Fish was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for business students.

    She plans to further her education at Seattle University’s School of Law, where she will study corporate law.    

    Iraq deployment open house planned

    Toppenish City Councilman Al Hubert announced at the June 9 Council meeting that a 30-person contingent of local National Guard personnel will deploy to Iraq in August, and he wants to send them off with an open house at the Toppenish Armory July 12.

    He said final plans are still being formulated, but he is asking anyone who is interested in helping with the open house to contact him.
