DARYEL CHARLES “PETE” ZUTTER

Daryel Charles “Pete” Zutter, of Toppenish passed away March 8, 2010 at the home he shared with his wife of 60 years. Pete was born in Olema, WA on September 1, 1918, to Charles and Mattie (Frazier) Zutter.
He lived and worked most of his life in Toppenish, but as a young boy he and his family lived in Polson, MT.
He worked for Yakima Golding Hop Farms for 13 years, U & I Sugar Refinery, and operated his own small engine repair and lawn mower shop for many years in Toppenish.
Pete served in the Army Co. L-109th Infantry in WW2 from 1942-1945.
He loved deer hunting with his sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew and salmon fishing at Westport and Drano Lake with his buddy Cliff.
He rode with the Toppenish Outlaws horse club.
Pete is survived by his wife, Nina (Carrell), daughter Rosanne Brackney of Zillah and son Regan Zutter of Hooper, UT. Also many in-laws, nieces and nephews, including JoAnn (Bob) Bell of Toppenish and Cyndi (Mike) Merryman of Zillah, and Butch (Jan) Williams of Montana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Gail Zutter and Vicki Lynn (Zutter) Counts, brothers Lewis and Lowell Eugene (Gene) Zutter and sister Phyllis (Carl) Williams.
We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to Dottie and the volunteers with Memorial Hospital Transitions, Memorial Hospice care nurse Sarah, Olga and caregivers, Lower Valley nurse Cheryl and to Chaplain Lori for their support and guidance that helped make Pete’s last days comfortable and ours less sorrowful.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Yakima Human Society, your choice of local pet rescues, or the Toppenish Mural Society would be appreciated.

Wilma F. Kennedy, 70 of Yakima, WA, died on Wednesday December 23, 2009 in Yakima.Wilma was born in Mabton, WA, and lived in the Yakima area all her life.
Survivors include her son, Marvin E. Kennedy of Yakima; and daughters, Debra Houben of Sedro Woolly, Dawn Kilby of Bow and Dennese Kennedy of Seattle.
A celebration of Wilma’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Eagles Lodge in Toppenish.

Audrey M. Schooley quietly passed away December 27, 2009. Audrey was born February 15, 1926 in Parker Heights to Curtis and Ardis Fowler
Audrey married Bruce Schooley on December 23, 1942.
Audrey worked many years for Del Monte in Toppenish.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bruce Schooley, sister, Lorraine Conatser, and her son, Ron Schooley.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bradford (John Bradford) of Ferndale; daughter, Wyoma Stewart of Dallas Texas, daughter in-law, Jackie Schooley of Seattle, sister, Veva Eichler of Yakima, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 2, 2009 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah.

Joseph P. Miller (73) of White Swan died at his home on Saturday January 2, 2010. He was born in Wapato on April 26, 1936 to Morris Miller Sr. and Carrie Johnson, and was raised and educated in the valley and Seattle.
Joseph worked as a journeyman carpenter, and a fisherman all throughout the northwest.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita of White Swan; five sons, Dewey Miller of Auburn, Lowell Miller of Selah, Harold Miller of Toppenish, Brian "Walleye" Howell of White Swan and Andrew "Bear" Miller of Wapato; four daughters, Karen Miller-Marek, Jennifer Miller-Paul, Veronica Miller-Walluatum, and Pamela Miller all of White Swan; 98 grandchildren; two brothers, Sam Smartlowit of White Swan and Marcus Slome of Wapato; two sisters, Nancy Arquette of White Swan and Celia Buffalo of Toppenish; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dressing services will be at Colonial Funeral Home Monday, January 4, 2009. Overnight services were at the Toppenish Creek Longhouse with funeral services Tuesday, January 5, 2009 at sunrise at the longhouse with interment following at Methodist Cemetery in White Swan. Donna F. Clements (66) of Yakima went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 29, 2009.She was born in Tulsa, OK on November 23, 1943 to William and Verna (Cottrell) Ellison.
Donna was raised and educated in Naches and worked as a fruit sorter, waitress and as a housekeeper in the motel/hotel industry.
On March 2, 1962 she married Roy Clements in Gleed.
She is survived by her husband, Roy of Yakima; three children, Teresa Kroes of Yakima, William Clements of Yakima and Elizabeth Werner of Ellensburg; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Sam Ellison of Ellensburg and William Ellison of Yakima; two sisters, Rose Wageman of Pasco and Viola Greer of Auburn.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jean and Lula.
Funeral services were Saturday January 2, 2010 at Colonial Funeral Home in Toppenish.

Jason L. Umtuch (67) of Toppenish died at Toppenish Community Hospital on Wednesday May 7, 2008. He was born in Parker to Reuben and Rosella (Hypier) Umtuch on February 3, 1941. He was raised and educated in the Yakima Valley. He worked for Mt. Adams Furniture Factory, was a diesel mechanic and most recently worked as a maintenance worker for AAOA retiring in 2004. He enjoyed hunting, scaffold fishing on the local rivers, and playing pool. Jason was a member of the Yakama Nation and the Washut religion. He is survived by his wife, Delores Armour of Toppenish; four sons, Sid Umtuch of Toppenish, Darryl Armour of Toppenish, Hillard Howard Jr. and Jared Sampson both of Wapato; two daughters, Verona Selam of Toppenish and Denise Littlebull of Wapato; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Sanchey of White Swan; niece and nephew, Rosella and Joseph Sanchey. Jason was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kevin Umtuch; one daughter, Carrie goudy; two sisters, Chemima Umtuch and Charmaine Sanchey.
Dressing services will be held on Thursday at 11AM at Colonial Funeral Home with overnight services at the family home Thursday evening. Overnight services will be Friday at the Toppenish Longhouse with the funeral procession leaving at 7AM Saturday May 10, 2008 for the Umtuch-Logie Cemetery south of Toppenish. Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
