    PACE Panthers celebrate graduation in Wapato


    WAPATO — It was a high school graduation full of joy, celebration, sadness and controversy.

    Next PACE principal to be selected tonight

    WAPATO — The Wapato School District Board of Directors will hear Superintendent Becky Imler’s recommendation for the next principal at PACE High School at its regular meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m., at the Administration Building at 212 W. 3rd St.

    Background: Alternative program coordinator of the White River School District for 12 years. “It is a four-district cooperative.
    We have five separate programs. I am actively involved in supervision of all the alternative high school and on-line programs, a parent-partnership program and a junior high alternative program.”

    Jeffrey Blain


    Background: “About 90 percent of my background is in alternative education of some type."

    “I began my teaching career as a voc/tech trades instructor.

    “I have been at Maple Lane High School which is a state correctional facility for youth for nine years and part-time and summers for some 19-20 years.

    “My recent position has been with the Selah School District to develop their on-line education program.

    “This would be my first administrative position.

    “Originally, there were 25-30 students with some 70 kids learning on campus.

    “I have been a coach for 20 years in basketball and football.”

    Background: Assistant principal at WHS. “This is my third year in the district.

    “I was with the Seattle Public Schools for 10 years, 1-½ years as dean of students. I was a teacher for 8-½ years.

    “I did it all at Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, an inner-city school with 28 languages spoken there.

    “I was department chair of CTE, marketing and business.

    “I have been a CEO of my own consulting firm. I have been an officer in the U.S. Army for eight years.”

    Background: “I have been in alternative education for 15 years, including as a principal in a private school.”
