    Pegasus Project is a North American Riding for the Handicapped Association

    Pegasus Project is a North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) member center providing therapeutic riding and equine-assisted activities for people with special needs and disabilities of all ages. Our sessions are 8 weeks long with a break in between sessions and our volunteer’s typically volunteer 2 hours a week, same time same day each week, for 8 weeks. Next training is Monday, October 6th at 6:30pm. Pegasus is made possible by the generosity of the community and its fantastic volunteers’. It would be great if you could make time to make a difference in your community 1 ½ -2 hours a week. We would love to meet you.     The Seasons Performance Hall welcomes volunteers to help at concerts! Teens to seniors!

    Sell tickets or refreshments, assist the artists, welcome concertgoers – then enjoy the music yourself. Hours needed vary -- usually evening, but sometimes afternoon. You pick your schedule. Enjoy concerts of many kinds at our upcoming Fall Festival! Help with occasional mailings and postering around town also needed. The Seasons is in downtown Yakima, 101 S.     Davis High School is looking for Hometown Mentors.

    Mentors work throughout remainder of student’s junior and senior year to provide guidance to high potential, low-income students applying for college. Mentors need to be at least 21; value higher education; appreciate cultural diversity and have the ability to work with students from diverse background. All potential mentors must fill out an application and have a criminal background check done by the agency before volunteering. For more information, please contact Sirena Phillips 509-574-1933.


    Speak up for a child!

    Volunteers are needed to be advocates for abused and neglected children in our community. If you are willing to commit time to making a difference in the life of a child, we will train you to act as an independent advocate. CASA volunteers have a variety of professional, educational and ethnic backgrounds. No special experience is required. Volunteers are selected on the basis of their objectivity, competence and commitment. Call Anna Martinez at Yakima County Juvenile Court CASA at 574-2068. We are training new volunteers soon, so call now.

    Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

    The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) helps individuals, age 55+ put their skills and life experiences to work for their communities.  RSVP helps older Americans stay active and involved.  The number of hours an RSVP volunteer serves is flexible.  The areas of greatest need are: Food Banks, Meals on Wheels, Mentoring Children of Incarcerated Parents (MCIP),

    Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program are volunteers that advocate for children who are in the Foster Care system. 

    Yakima County Food Services volunteers help prepare and/or serve meals to local seniors at meal sites throughout the county.

    Tutors/Mentors for elementary, middle school, high school and groups with special needs in Yakima County

    Volunteer Chore Services provides basic in-home assistance to low-income seniors and adults with disabilities.

    Wags to Riches Animal Rescue and Sanctuary

    A newly established animal rescue group, Wags to Riches Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, has many volunteer opportunities available!!!!  The most pressing areas right now are.......  

    Foster homes - provide love, attention, time for us to find a wonderful forever home, and an alternative to a kill shelter.  Wags will provide food, vet care if needed and support.

    Volunteer Coordinator - Is your strong suit organization?  We need someone to coordinate our volunteers.  Keep in contact with them and tell them about upcoming events or meetings. 

    Phones - Do you like to talk to people?  We are in need of someone that will respond to our phone messages.  You can do it from the comfort of your own home!

    Yakima County Juvenile Court CAB

    Yakima County Juvenile Court CAB (Community Accountability Board) hold the youth accountable for his/her actions; and aids in fostering positive changes in the youth’s attitude/behaviors.

    Project Warm-Up

    Project Warm-Up volunteers knit and/or crochet various cold-weather items for families in need.
